MCC Therapies: Pediatric Occupational Therapy & Neurodiversity‑Affirming Coaching in Northeast Ohio

Learn the story behind MCC Therapies, founded by an Ashtabula‑based occupational therapist and mother of a neurodivergent child. Providing affirming, sensory‑aware, trauma‑informed support for families across Northeast Ohio.

MCC Therapies was created to give families in Northeast Ohio something they’ve been missing for far too long: local, affirming, sensory‑aware support that doesn’t require long drives, long waitlists, or services that misunderstand neurodivergent children. As both a clinician and a mother of a neurodivergent child, I saw firsthand how limited our options were — and how deeply families needed care that truly understands their child.

My son’s journey includes feeding challenges, sensory limitations, executive function differences, emotional dysregulation, hypotonia, and restrictive interests. Like many families in our region, we live in a provider desert, often driving an hour each way for a single therapy session. MCC Therapies exists because families shouldn’t have to fight this hard for support. Our community deserves care that is gentle, predictable, trauma‑informed, and identity‑affirming — right here at home.

Why did I found MCC Therapies?

My Story

I’ve spent more than a decade supporting neurodivergent children, teens, and adults across schools, homes, clinics, and community settings. But my greatest learning came from parenting a neurodivergent child myself.

I know the reality of:

  • navigating feeding challenges

  • managing sensory‑driven meltdowns

  • advocating in school meetings

  • coordinating care in a region with limited providers

  • carrying the emotional load of doing everything you can with too few resources

These experiences shaped MCC Therapies into more than a practice — they shaped it into a place where families feel seen, understood, and supported without judgment. A place where neurodivergent identity is respected, not pathologized. A place where care is predictable, gentle, and grounded in compassion.

Our Mission & Values

Our mission is simple: to provide affirming, accessible, evidence‑based support that honors identity and reduces overwhelm for the whole family.

We are guided by values that shape every interaction:

  • Affirming Care — We honor neurodivergent identity; we never aim to “fix” who someone is.

  • Accessibility — We reduce barriers through mobile, virtual, and community‑based services.

  • Predictability & Sensory Awareness — Sessions are structured, safe, and gentle.

  • Trauma‑Informed Practice — We understand the impact of stress, overwhelm, and past experiences.

  • Family Partnership — We work alongside families, not above them.

  • Ethical Clarity — We maintain a clear separation between OT and coaching services.

Families often tell us MCC Therapies feels different — and that’s intentional. We’ve lived the long drives, the limited options, and the emotional weight families carry. We design care that reduces overwhelm, communicates clearly, and supports the whole family.

  • We understand the provider desert firsthand

  • We’ve lived the long drives and limited options

  • We know the emotional weight families carry

  • We design care that reduces overwhelm

  • We offer a sensory‑aware, gentle approach

  • We communicate clearly and predictably

  • We support the whole family, not just the individual

  • We maintain ethical separation between OT and coaching

  • We create a low‑pressure, neurodivergent‑friendly onboarding process

This is care built by someone who has been on both sides — the clinician and the parent.

What makes us different?

If you’re exploring support for yourself or your child, you don’t have to navigate it alone. When you’re ready, I’m here to walk with you — at your pace, in a way that feels safe and supportive.

As we grow toward a full caseload by Summer 2027, our mission remains steady: to provide accessible, individualized, strengths‑based support that helps neurodivergent people thrive at home, at school, and in their communities.
